What is a Mirrorless Camera?
The revolutionary mirrorless digital camera is changing the rules of photography. It has a compact body with interchangeable lenses, high image quality and performance, body image stabilization, dynamic range, and a great range of shooting speed. Sensors come in various sizes, from a full-frame sensor, APS C, Micro Four Thirds, to a 1-inch. Another perk to this category is that mirrorless gear also includes a fast autofocus system, which works with phase detection autofocus in most models, especially in low light.
The Wi-Fi connectivity capabilities that have been included in many of the mirrorlesses on the market are truly incredible. Most models with Wi-Fi also have a partner app for either iOS or Android that allows you to control and view the camera's screen from a smartphone, tablet, or from a laptop.
Whether you're considering an entry-level mirrorless camera shooter or videographer skill user-level expert looking for gear to enhance your creations, we got you!
What is DSLR?
The DSLR camera’s design, which combines the optics and mechanisms of an SLR (film) camera with a digital imaging sensor, is what sets it apart from other types of models. It also comes with many powerful functions and features that allow the user to manipulate the camera’s capability to shoot a particular scene, thereby manipulating the final photographic results.
What is Film Photography?
Photographs taken with an analog camera and film are referred to as "analog photography." After loading a roll of film into the camera, the magic begins: light interacts with the film's chemicals, and an image is captured. When the film is developed in a photo lab, the images captured on the roll come to life.
What is the difference between Mirrorless and DSLR cameras?
There are a few key differences between mirrorless cameras and DSLRs. Typically mirrorless cameras are smaller, lighter, and more compact, making them a great option for travel and everyday use. DSLR cameras used to have a larger selection of available lenses, but as more major camera manufacturers enter the mirrorless market, the available lenses have increased significantly.
Fortunately, many companies such as Canon and Nikon have offered adapters to use DSLR lenses on mirrorless bodies. Contemporary mirrorless cameras have many of the same functions as DSLR cameras so that you can use them interchangeably for most applications.
Making Sense of Sensors: full-frame, APS-C, and Medium Format
Different sensor sizes are available in digital cameras, and the larger the sensor, the better the image quality. A 'full-frame camera' is the ultimate for most amateurs and experts. These have a sensor that's about the same size as traditional 35mm film, measuring 36 x 24mm or so. Because full-frame sensors are twice the size of APS-C sensors found in most DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, full-frame cameras can cost twice as much as APS-C models.
Full frame sensors win hands down over APS-C Camera sensors for night photography. Because the pixels on full-frame systems are larger, they produce finer details and have a wider dynamic range than an APS-C sensor with the same number of pixels.
A medium format camera has even larger sensor sizes than full-frame models, allowing them to capture more detail and tonal range, resulting in a smoother tonal transition and improved color accuracy. These are a favorite of professional landscape and studio photographers.
What are the brands available on Moment?
